Counseling and Advising
"Important Guidance Information and Dates"
The Guidance Department, the Religion Department, the administration and the faculty carry out the counseling and advising programs.
The Guidance Department consists of Mr. Richard Magner, director, Mr. Stephen Thibeau, Mrs. Joan Tomasiello, and Mr. Mark Lambert. Each counselor is responsible for a quarter of the student body. He or she follows from freshmen year through graduation. Counselors provide adjustment and academic counseling as well as college placement, career choices, and other post-graduate pursuits.
In addition to maintaining student's permanent records, the guidance department administers the National Educational Development Test (N.E.D.T), the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) the SAT Reasoning Test, and finally SAT Subject Tests.
Throughout the school year, the department holds a number of programs for students and parents to provide them with academic information as well as college and financial aid planning. The Guidance Department utilizes the College Board's web based college, and career search program to aid in the college selection process. This website is called www.myroad.com. Students receive passwords during their sophomore year to access www.myroad.com from school or home.
