Congratulations Angelo Sosa `93
September 16, 2010: For those who recorded Top Chef on Bravo last night so you could watch it later, I'm going to take away any surprise. Angelo Sosa, Xavier grad from the class of 1993, was a runner-up in the final night of competition. If you didn't see it, I won't tell you who the new Top Chef is, but he certainly earned it.
Angelo acquitted himself well through the many contests that he faced. Winner of several challenges as the field of competitors was whittled down from 17 to 3, Angelo was mentioned as the strongest competition by virtually all his peers. Adding to the drama of the "final" was the fact that he was physically ill and confined to bed on the first day of preparation and only cleared by the doctor to compete on the morning of the challenge in Singapore.
If you are in New York, Angelo's Xie Xie Restaurant is located at 645A Ninth Avenue (45th Street). Visit their website. This morning, there was a notice that the restaurant is temporarily closed for a few weeks while the building is being renovated.
The restaurant name is Mandarin for "Thank You." Thank you Angelo for an enjoyable season on Top Chef and best of luck in your future culinary endeavors.
