At the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year, the Xavier Spiritual Life Council discussed the possibility of ending each school day with prayer at the conclusion of announcements, following Principal Brendan Donohue's example on the last day of each week. The idea was brought to a group of approximately 20 senior leaders for feedback and their response to the idea was overwhelmingly positive. One of the ideas proposed by the seniors was that we write an official Xavier High School prayer that could be used each day, establishing a new tradition for our school.
At the Memorial of St. Francis Xavier, December 3, 2010, this new tradition was begun. Students, faculty and staff received prayer cards with the new school prayer and Principal Donohue led us all in praying it together for the first time. Mr. Donohue thanked all the students who were involved and for the ideas they submitted. In particular, he offered special thanks to seniors Chris Danko and Francis Rowland for their significant contributions in writing the prayer.
