Xavier High School competes in the Central Connecticut Conference in the CT High School Rifle League. As a member of one of Connecticut's most competitive conferences, Xavier regularly faces the toughest opponents that the state of Connecticut has to offer.
Seniors Jacob Cink and Brian Masselli are the captains this year. They were part of the 2018- 2019 team that won the state championship. That team is pictured below.

State Championship is Feb. 26
Here’s how you win a state title: Seven of the 10 competitors on the Xavier varsity rifle team either shot their best or tied their best scores in the February 2019 championships.
The match was tight and soon everyone knew it would come down to the final competitors. When the dust had cleared, Xavier had its first title since 2016, beating two-time defending champion Wilbraham & Monson 960-955. Bunnell, which was 6-0 on the season, was third with 954.
Xavier had lost twice to Wilbraham & Monson during the season.
CJ Sokol ‘19 tied his best with a 196. Brian Masselli ‘20 had a 192, a season high by a point. Jacob Cink ‘20 had a 191, marking the fifth time during the season he shot a 190 or better.
Joseph Tedeschi ‘19 had a season-high 191. Joseph Marcin ‘20 had a 190, seven points better than his season high. Brandon Hawke ‘19 had a 189, a season high by a point.
Vincent Miano ‘20 had a 188, two points better than his season average. Justin Lanzuela ‘20 had a season-high 187. Adam Carroll ‘21 also had a 187, a point better than his season average. And Sean Collison ‘21 had a 186, bettering his season average by about 2.5 points.
