Job Posting for Spanish/Visual Art Teacher

Xavier High School is seeking applicants for a full time position teaching both Spanish and Visual Arts or for separate part time positions teaching just Spanish and just Visual Arts.

For the Visual Arts position, the ideal candidate will:

  • demonstrate a passion for working with adolescent boys in a Catholic, college-prep setting;
  • support and uphold the mission of a Catholic and Xaverian educational community;
  • possess at least a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred) in the Visual Arts;
  • have experience teaching in a high school setting;
  • be able to teach AP Drawing and AP Art and Design (Art History is also a plus);
  • have superior interpersonal skills;
  • be open to incorporating technology into a BYOD learning environment;
  • be open to taking a role in the community outside of the classroom.

For the Spanish, the ideal candidate will:

  • demonstrate a passion for working with adolescent boys in a Catholic, college-prep setting;

  • be able to coordinate counseling programs and support other school-wide programs;
  • demonstrate the ability to guide families through the college application process;
  • have superior communication and interpersonal skills;
  • possess excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to adapt to the complexities of the job;
  • possess at least a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred) in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field;
  • have counseling experience in a high school setting;

Mercy High School President

Mercy High School is a Christ-centered Catholic diocesan college preparatory high school for young women in Middlesex County, CT. Mercy is a highly rated private high school committed to providing a challenging educational experience in a safe and nurturing environment. Mercy is currently seeking a high school President. As the President, the successful candidate will further the mission as well as ensure the continued vitality and visibility of the school. The President will provide visionary, inspirational leadership and exemplify the Catholic values and mission of the Mercy Education System of the Americas (MESA), while promoting the school’s academic excellence and community presence. The President reports directly to the Board of Trustees and the Bishop of the Diocese of Norwich.

The successful candidate will have significant management experience, expertise in financial and business management, a proven track record of using innovative strategies to market and grow an organization as well as experience in acquiring funds through the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts. The successful candidate will likewise be a strategic thinker who can powerfully articulate as well as communicate a vision with clarity and focus, while leading the implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive strategic plan and enrollment management plan that will elevate the profile of the school.

Mercy High School seeks candidates with strong relationship-building, fundraising, interpersonal, and communications skills that inspire collaboration from all internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess the demonstrated ability to work with a Board of Trustees and lead an administrative team which includes a Dean of Academics and Technology and a Dean of Students. The President must be comfortable initiating and leading change that will strengthen the school in the areas of marketing, development, enrollment and fiscal management.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Operational planning and business strategy; design both immediate and long term plans

Annual budget development and management

Implement and manage group policy

Develop and manage personnel strategy and related matters

Coordinate and participate in public relations, marketing and student recruitment programs

School asset management

Compliance and risk management

Ongoing development of the school’s Catholicity through both academic programs and student faith formation

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to possess a Master’s Degree and between 7-10 years’ experience as an administrator or within a senior management role with demonstrated success in fundraising. Experience in the field of education will be highly regarded.

A suitable candidate will be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who demonstrates commitment to the principles of Catholic education and is an accomplished leader with a proven track record of success. Salary and benefits are commensurate to experience.

The new President will take office on July 1, 2020. This position will require travel as well as evening and weekend responsibilities.
