Xavier High School senior Chris D'Agostino was welcomed into elite company Saturday night.
He is now an Eagle Scout out of Troop 608 (Hamden/North Haven). His father William is the Assistant Scoutmaster for that troop.
For his Eagle Scout project Chris built an orienteering course at Brooksvale Park in Hamden. Orienteering is navigating rough terrain to find hidden white and orange markers using only a compass and a topographical map that shows the locations of the checkpoints.
Along with Chris' Eagle Scout rank came two "palm leaves," which were bronze and gold, for going above the requirements to earn the Eagle Scout honors.
"My wife, Mary, and I are very proud of Chris becoming an Eagle Scout," William D'Agostino said. "It is an amazing achievement. Chris loves hiking, backpacking, and camping, and his troop goes camping every month including throughout the winter."
William said that Chris also enjoys hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts.
Xavier is a private, Catholic all-boys high school in Middletown, CT.
