Parents are urged to attend Senior Financial Aid Night at Mercy High School Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The event is for parents and guardians of both Xavier High School and Mercy students.
The guest speaker is Lewis DeLuca from Southern Connecticut State University. He has more than 25 years of experience in college admissions, financial aid and financial literacy. DeLuca is the coordinator of Student Financial Literacy and Advising at Southern, which recently was honored by LendEDU as having the ninth best financial literacy program in the country.
One crucial element for parents to know, DeLuca said, is to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on Oct. 1.
There are ways to save on college costs and certainly one is applying for financial aid and as many scholarships as possible.
He'll have plenty of advice and tips that night, so you're encouraged to attend.
