Hogan Beatty '20 is a peer minister, on the executive board, the football team manager and a devoted Big Falcon. For all that and more, the Empower Leadership Club has chosen Beatty as the November Leader of the Month.
Beatty, at right in photo, was described in the nomination by Sam Voghell '21 as being a caring, outgoing and model student. His nomination spoke of Beatty bringing in cupcakes at lunch for his Little Falcon's birthday, selling tickets and promoting the first Homecoming Dance this fall, being a great team manager in football, and bringing out the best in others and elevating the Xavier community.
Beatty said he was shocked, honored and proud to be the Leader of the Month.
He said he has grown throughout his years here, getting more involved and "seeing myself as wanting to change someone's life in any way I can."
As a Big Falcon he has two Little Falcons and he checks in regularly with the freshmen. "I want them to know that if they need anything I'm available," Beatty said.
As a freshman he wanted to play football but figured out it wasn't for him. Still, he did not want to give up the team aspect and the friendships, so he became team manager. He was there for the team and the team was there for him.
On Friday, he was honored on Senior Night for his years of service to the team. Xavier beat West Haven 22-21 on a late touchdown drive and two-point conversion.
"We put a lot of effort in during the week and that last push to get us over West Haven was awesome," Beatty said.
Xavier High School is a private, Catholic all-boys school in Middletown, CT., and a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School.
