Constant: A value that doesn't change.
That's the definition in the math world. And in that world this year, the Xavier junior varsity math team, made up of freshmen and sophomores, was just that.
The team finished in a tie for first place in its final meet of the season, here at Xavier on Thursday. And that gave the team a first-place finish for the season in the eight-team Middlesex County JV Math League.
Xavier students had exams on Thursday and have some more on Friday. They got out of school early on Thursday. But extracurriculars and athletic events know no time clock. It's another side of the educational experience.
The JV math team, fueled by some donuts and pizza, went out and clinched the title.
All the hard work added up to a great season for the champs, pictured from left: Matt O'Connor '22, Owen Pestka '22, Sotirios Paul '23, Rithik Kurup '23 and Tyler Ferguson '23.
