Xavier's National Honor Society Induction Ceremonies A Special Time

The Honor Societies Induction Ceremony and Recognition of Distinguished Scholars program was held Thursday night at Xavier High School in Kohs Gymnasium. A few things about the ceremonies:

This Year's National Honor Society Officers

Part of the induction includes a candle lighting ceremony, in which all National Honor Society members participated: president Emad Cheema, first vice president Justin-Bryle Lanzuela, second vice president Alexander Inglis, secretary Joseph Marcin, treasurer Sean Kelly, and the three chapter historians, Nathan Barandon, Peter Cavaliere, and Vincent Miano.

NHS Criteria

All members of the National Honor Society must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.33 or higher and perform 12 hours of NHS service for each year of membership. The four qualities of scholarship, service, leadership and character must be maintained by all members of the NHS.

Xavier's NHS Chapter

The Monsignor Wilson Chapter of the NHS is named after the Right Rev. Monsignor James J. Wilson, whose portrait was on stage Thursday night. Monsignor Wilson was the pastor at St. Francis Church in Middletown, very involved in advancing Catholic education and instrumental in obtaining the parcel of land on which Xavier stands today.
