From Your Alumni & Development Team:

There has been no slowdown in Office activities this summer!

Suzanne is imputing information for the Class of 2028 in the database, planning the Grandparents Mass for September, searching for and updating alumni emails, addresses, and phone numbers, processing donations, and gathering all the pertinent information needed to produce the Annual Donor Report for 2023-2024.

Greg and Rich have been working with an incredible group of alumni Committee members securing sponsorships for the 41st Annual Xavier Golf Classic (September 6th); planning the Grand Reunion for the graduating classes ending in 4 and 9 (October 4th), the Summer Alumni Social hosted by 745 Osteria restaurant in Old Saybrook (September 18th), and Homecoming here at XHS (October 26th); and working on strategies and appeal materials to hopefully double the percentage of participation of financial support from alums in 2024-2025.

Our focus going forward is to build and maintain relationships with you, our graduates. We are always open to suggestions of ways to better do that. Feel free to reach out to any of us at 860-346-7735. Suzanne is extension is 737, Greg is 733, and Rich is 732.

The Search for Missing Alums Continues:

The Xavier Alumni & Development Office is beginning an all-out effort to find alumni from every class for whom we have no contact information. We would like to be able to reach them with this E-Newsletter and provide regular information regarding reunions and special alumni events. XHS has never been notified of their death, so we presume all are still living.

If you know the whereabouts of any of the alums from the Classes of 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974 listed below, please contact Suzanne Berry, Rich Feitel or Greg Jaskot in the Alumni & Development Office (860-346-7735, Ext. 737).

We will publish a list of as many Classes as space provides in each issue of the E-News going forward.

Grand Reunion to be held at XHS in October

Class reunions are very important events to conduct for high schools. They give alums an opportunity to re-connect with classmates, reminisce about the good old days, and for Alumni Offices to continue to build relationships with graduates.

Because it's so difficult to create committees to conduct them (especially at an all-boys high school with graduates scattered all over the United States), we decided to simplify that task this year. Xavier High School will host a Grand Reunion on Friday, October 4th for the Classes of 1969, 1973, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2009, 2014 and 2019. The cafeteria will be sectioned off for each Class and food and festivities provided for all. An email blast went out recently to all members of those classes with a link to register.

We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to reunite with your classmates and celebrate a special reunion with many of them. If you would like to form a committee to plan something additional for that Saturday or Sunday, you still have that option. At least you'll have one opportunity to gather with old friends and visit the campus where you spent the four most formative years of your life.

In July, the Tim Boyle QB/WR Camp brought together over 120 campers and 35 dedicated high school and college coaches, current and former college athletes, including 13 Xavier alumni and 8 current or former Xavier coaches. Among the staff were Will Levis '18 of the Tennessee Titans, former Head Coach Sean Marinan '80, and two-time New York Giants Super Bowl Offensive Coordinator, Kevin Gilbride. The camp also saw the participation of several campers who were sons of Xavier alumni, adding a strong sense of tradition and community to the event.

XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL PRAYER - read at the close of school each day

Loving Father,
We ask you to protect the students, faculty and staff at Xavier High School.
Guide us to salvation by following the example of Jesus Christ, your Son.
Inspire us with your grace, to seek both academic success and spiritual wisdom as we use your gifts and talents in service to others.
Help us to find the strength and passion to be leaders and pioneers like Theodore James Ryken, the Xaverian Brothers and those who founded our school.
May we, in turn, accept the challenge to spread the Word of God and make the world a better place for all people.
We ask this, through Christ, our Lord. Amen
Saint Francis Xavier pray for us.

   - Chris Danko '11 and Francis Rowland '11
