Pastoral Advising

"Pastoral advising offers Xavier students yet another safety net

and helps to consistently remind them that at X, we’re a family.”

Each student is assigned a pastoral advisor from the religion department or other select faculty. The pastoral advisor meets with each student at least once during the school year, but may meet more often, depending on the needs of the student. Parents are encouraged to contact their son's pastoral advisor with any concerns they may have about their son(s).

The role of the pastoral advisor, in part, is to discuss with the student his views of himself, his relationship with others, and his understanding of his relationship with God.

“Having served the community as a pastoral advisor for 21 years, I can truly say that this program is a hallmark of Xavier High School,” Religion Department Chair Jeremy Fowler said. “Sometimes it’s just offering an ear, sometimes it’s being there to support a young man through a family struggle, sometimes it’s helping a student understand his grief after the loss of a friend or family member, but every time it’s an opportunity to connect with our kids in a lasting, meaningful way.  Pastoral advising offers Xavier students yet another safety net and helps to consistently remind them that at X, we’re a family.”
