Dear Xavier Families,

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year at Xavier! We are incredibly excited to have your sons in the building and ready for a year filled with promise and possibility.

As summer comes to a close, the energy on campus has been unmistakable. This past week, all four classes participated in orientation, and the halls of Xavier once again echoed with the excitement and anticipation of a new beginning.

We are eager to welcome everyone back on Tuesday, September 2, for the first official day of school. Until then, I hope you and your families savor this last long weekend of summer. May it be a time of rest, joy, and togetherness before the rhythm of the school year begins.

This year, our Xaverian value of the year is COMPASSION. It is a call to see the needs of others and respond with both heart and action. As we embrace this value together, we pray it shapes not only our daily life on campus but also the way our students carry themselves in the wider world.

Our community-wide challenge issued to our students, faculty, and staff this year is "Do you KNOW your neighbor?" Senior Cael Lumbra presented his proposal for the challenge at XLI earlier this month. Cael wrote "We pass by and look at the same people each day, but rarely do we take the time or effort to see these people beyond face value. So, this challenge is calling us to extend compassion to the people we see every day."

Building on Cael's words, senior Patrick Manning shared the challenge with each of our classes as well as the faculty and staff during orientation week on behalf of the Head of School Advisory Committee. His message reminded us that this call to compassion is not just an abstract idea, but something meant to shape our daily interactions here at Xavier. By taking the time to truly know one another, we create a community where every student, teacher, and staff member is seen, valued, and supported.

As we look ahead to a new month and academic year on Randolph Road, I wanted to share this passage from our XBSS Partners in Mission document:

"Compassion is the tenderness of heart which is capable of seeing and hearing the needs of all, near and far. We are called to stand with one another in difficulties, supporting and encouraging all of our brothers and sisters, especially the poor, weak, and oppressed, for they too are called to experience and share the love of God with and through us."

Here are this week's updates and announcements...

- Parents of fall athletes: This is a reminder to parents that Student-Athletes must be in school for the day in order to participate in their practices or contests. If your son is absent from school, they are not allowed to attend practice or games unless they receive permission from Ms. Drewry. Any athlete who is found in violation of this policy will be immediately sent home from their event and face additional school consequences. Additionally, athletes who arrive late or leave early, must be present for 5 full class periods in order to be eligible for athletics.

- Parents of Fall Athletes: Reminder that parent pick up after practices/games should be in the back of the school and not along the side of the building.  Parents must stay out of the bus pick up/drop off lane. It has been clearly painted and marked on the side of the building.

- If students did not bring in their photo envelope and place a picture order during Orientation, they may still order pictures if they submit their order form to the Main Office on Tuesday (9/2) or Wednesday (9/3). Please reach out to Ms. Lee with any questions.

- Registration for our annual Fall Open House on Sunday October 26 is open! This is one of the biggest days of the year for Xavier. Please share this link with any families or friends that may be interested in attending Xavier. We greatly appreciate your help!
