Xavier High School Parent Weekly Newsletter - May 16

Dear Xavier Families,

As the final exams for our seniors wrapped up this week, we took another step closer to one of the most meaningful milestones in a Xavier student’s journey: graduation. The countdown is officially on, and we cannot wait to celebrate the Class of 2025 next week with their families and friends.

Graduation practice will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we will gather for the Senior Breakfast on Wednesday morning, a Xavier tradition filled with laughter, memories, and a few surprises. The link to view next week’s Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Ceremony can be found later in this newsletter.

On campus, student leadership is already beginning to take shape for next year. The Student Activities Council is holding elections for officer positions, and today we held a special class assembly for our freshmen and sophomores as part of our ongoing mission to build leadership and character at every stage of a student’s Xavier experience.

I spoke to Brother Philip Revell, C.F.X, recently and he shared that he has completed his last round of radiology treatments. He is in good spirits and keeping tabs on us down here on Randolph Road. We remain hopeful that he will return to the classroom and he wanted to share a heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2025.

Our spring sports teams continue to impress as of Thursday morning:

•    Baseball is 10-5, highlighted by a thrilling walk off win against Sheehan at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford
•    Golf has tallied 11 victories and remains a perfect 9-0 in conference play
•    Lacrosse, under the leadership of a new head coach, has earned five wins, including an overtime triumph over Newington
•    Tennis stands at 10 wins and 3 losses, showing consistency and determination on the court
•    Track and Field has its sights set on a third straight SCC Championship, with the title meet coming up soon
•    Ultimate Frisbee boasts a strong record of 7-2, continuing to turn heads with fast-paced play
•    Sailing has picked up spring victories against both Guilford and Choate, showcasing skill and teamwork on the water

We are proud of our student athletes and the coaches who guide them. They compete with heart and represent Xavier with pride.

Have a great weekend and thank you for all you do to support our community.

Have a restful weekend and God bless.

- As technology evolves, Xavier High School remains committed to maintaining a distraction free learning environment. For the remainder of the year, Meta Glasses and similar wearable devices will follow the same policy as cell phones and smartwatches; Students should not use them during the school day, and they will receive consequences if they do so. While not explicitly listed in the student handbook, these devices can capture photos, stream video, and access information in real time, posing potential distractions and academic integrity concerns. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy to help ensure a productive academic atmosphere. Please contact the school administration with any questions.
