Dear Xavier Families,
Last Saturday evening, the Junior Prom brought our Class of 2027 together for a memorable night on campus. The laughter, music, and friendships shared throughout the evening reflected something deeper than a dance. It reflected the bonds our students continue to build here each day. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the night such a success for our juniors. Thanks to Mrs. Keereweer for organizing another memorable event for our students.
This week also marked the beginning of AP Exams at Xavier. We are incredibly proud of the effort our AP students continue to demonstrate and the dedication they show toward their studies. Their preparation, discipline, and willingness to challenge themselves academically speak volumes about their commitment to growth and excellence. We wish all of our students the very best as testing continues in the days ahead.
For the members of the Class of 2026, this week brought another Xavier tradition. On their final day of classes, our seniors gathered on the turf for a morning and afternoon filled with games, breakfast, lunch, and time together before departing early to prepare for their upcoming exams. There is something meaningful about watching a class pause together before the next chapter begins. These moments of joy and camaraderie are memories our seniors will carry long after graduation day arrives.
This weekend, we look forward to another special event as our freshmen and sophomores gather for the Freshmen & Sophomore Semi-Formal. We hope it is a wonderful evening for our underclassmen to spend time together and continue building friendships that strengthen the fabric of our Xavier brotherhood.
On Wednesday, we were proud to celebrate National Nurses Day and recognize Mrs. Beaudry for the extraordinary care she provides to our school community each and every day.
She serves as a steady, compassionate presence within our school, someone our students, faculty, and staff can rely on without hesitation. Whether offering a reassuring word to a nervous student, tending to everyday bumps and bruises, or responding calmly in urgent situations, she brings a sense of comfort and care that leaves a lasting impact.
Her professionalism is matched only by her kindness. She has a remarkable way of making each student feel seen, heard, and cared for, no matter how big or small their need may be. In moments when students may feel vulnerable or unsure, she provides not only medical care, but also empathy, patience, and understanding. We are deeply grateful for all she does for Xavier High School.
This week also gave us the opportunity to celebrate Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week. It is fitting to dedicate time to recognize the extraordinary work of our faculty and staff, but the truth is that their impact is felt in every moment of every school day throughout the entire year.
To our teachers: your work extends far beyond delivering lessons or preparing students for exams. You are mentors, role models, and steady sources of encouragement. You meet our students where they are, and through your dedication, you help them grow not only academically, but personally and morally as well.
We are blessed to have educators who bring both excellence and compassion into their classrooms. You challenge our students to think critically, to act with integrity, and to strive for their very best. You create an environment where curiosity is welcomed, where questions are encouraged, and where each student is seen, heard, and valued.
To our staff: we are equally grateful for the vital role you play in the daily life of Xavier. Whether supporting our students directly, maintaining our facilities, assisting in our offices, or working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly, your contributions are essential. You create an environment that allows both teaching and learning to flourish, and your dedication, professionalism, and care for this community do not go unnoticed. Xavier is stronger because of you.
As Head of School, I want to say how proud I am of the faculty and staff we have here at Xavier High School. Their commitment to our mission, their care for our students, and their passion for this community define who we are. They are truly at the heart of Xavier.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Xavier High School. We wish all of our mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our community a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day weekend. Your love, sacrifice, guidance, and unwavering support shape the lives of our young men in countless ways each and every day. The strength of our Xavier community is made stronger by the care and example you provide to your families, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do.
I wanted to share an excerpt Sunday's Gospel from John 14: 21.
"Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him."
John 14:21 sits at the heart of the Gospel of John, where Jesus speaks not just about belief, but about lived faith. The verse makes a simple but demanding connection. Love is proven through action. To "have" His commandments is to know them. To "observe" them is to let them shape how we treat others, how we carry ourselves, and how we respond when it is difficult.
At Xavier, that message resonates deeply. We are not called to simply talk about faith or keep it within the walls of a classroom. We are called to live it in the way our students support one another, in the respect they show their teachers, and in the integrity they bring to their work and decisions. Faith becomes visible here in everyday moments. It shows in choosing kindness, showing discipline, and leading with humility.
This verse also speaks to relationship. It reminds us that when we strive to live out Christ's teachings, we grow closer to Him and come to better understand who He is. At Xavier, that journey is shared within a community rooted in faith, where young men are encouraged not only to learn about God, but to encounter Him through their actions and relationships.
In that way, John 14:21 is both a challenge and a promise. It calls us to live with purpose and assures us that in doing so, we are never alone.
God Bless!
Mr. Cerreta '01 President, Xavier High School
