Dear Xavier Families,
It was a short but meaningful week on campus; one marked by the simple grace of being together and supporting one another.
I'd like to begin with an update on the Kamp family. On Monday, a group of our students joined Ms. Drewry and I for a visit with Fred and his family. While the adults sat downstairs with Fred's mom and her uncle, we could hear the steady rise of laughter from the TV room above. It was a beautiful reminder of who our young men are and what this community stands for.
The Kamp family remains tremendously grateful for everything Xavier has done so far. I assured them, as I assure you now, that our support is not short-term. We will walk with them for as long as they need us.
We continue to accept donations for the family, and clothing sizes can be found HERE. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, please bring it to school and leave it with me or Mrs. Biro.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visiting hours at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home (36 Washington Avenue) will be held on Friday, November 14, from 4-8 p.m. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church (44 Washington Avenue, North Haven) on Saturday, November 15, at 10:30 a.m. for the Requiem Mass, with the committal service immediately following at All Saints Cemetery.
We also welcomed prospective families to campus on Thursday evening for our Entrance Exam prep course. Their energy and enthusiasm were unmistakable, and it is clear that there are many bright, eager young men excited about the possibility of becoming Falcons. Our second Entrance Exam will be held this weekend, and the Class of 2030 is already beginning to take shape. We look forward to meeting more future members of our community in the days ahead.
As always, thank you for your partnership, your prayers, and the countless ways you lift up the Xavier mission. I am grateful for each of you.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for the love and strength you bring to the Xavier community.
I wanted to share this passage from our XBSS Partners in Mission document:
"Humility is the recognition of our total dependence on God. Adopting the selfless attitude of Christ, we accept that each person is a unique expression of God's love, is gifted, and is loved in their sinful and graced humanity. We recognize our brothers and sisters as images of God with whom we journey in faith."
Humility is one of the touchstones of a Xavier education. We teach our students that true greatness begins with understanding who we are in the eyes of God: loved, imperfect, and called to serve one another. This belief guides how we build relationships, how we learn, how we compete, and how we engage with the world. By recognizing the dignity of every person, our students learn to lead with empathy and to become men who make a difference.
