Dear Xavier Families,
On Saturday, students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni came together for our annual Houli Day campus clean-up. The turnout was outstanding. Together, the Xavier community rolled up its sleeves and helped beautify our campus just in time for Open House. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy in service to our school.
On Sunday we welcomed prospective families to our biggest Open House of the year. Our student ambassadors led tours with pride and enthusiasm, and they did a tremendous job sharing what it means to be a Falcon. Many thanks as well to the Home & School Association for helping with the event and being on hand to answer questions from families throughout the day. For the first time, we also had several alumni join us to speak with visitors. Hearing directly from graduates about how Xavier shaped their lives was powerful, and it mattered.
On the athletic front, our cross country team continued its remarkable run of success, winning the CIAC State Championship last week. This marks the program's seventh straight state title. Holden Hines, Nolan O'Connor, and Peter Torello each earned All-State honors. Congratulations to Coach Stonier and to our Falcons on another outstanding performance.
Our soccer team has also had a strong season and is competing in the CIAC State Tournament. Their first game is this afternoon against Harding. We wish Coach Fitzgerald and the team the very best as they continue their postseason.
On Wednesday, our freshmen took part in their annual retreat. This day is an important part of who we are as a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. Through prayer, reflection, and activities, our newest Falcons were invited to consider what it truly means to be men of faith and integrity for and with others. Our peer ministers played a key role in leading the day and helping our freshmen see that faith and brotherhood is not just something we talk about, it is something we live.
Finally, a reminder that report cards will be posted online this evening at 6:00 p.m.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support.
I want to share this passage from our XBSS Partners in Mission document:
"Simplicity frees the heart, the mind, and the soul for the work of evangelization and education. The Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School community encourages us to live and work in ways that respect our vocation to be stewards of God's creation."

- On Monday, November 3 John Halligan will be giving a presentation for our freshmen and transfer students during the school day. He will relay his own tragic experience as a Dad whose 13 year old son took his own life in 2003, after incessant bullying by peers since the 5th grade, both in school and online. In addition, Mr. Halligan will also be offering a virtual presentation open to all of our parents. We strongly encourage ALL parents, who have yet to see his presentation, to view a link that will be shared. Because of the sensitive nature of the topic, we wanted to inform parents of freshmen and transfer students about the presentation in advance.
- Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 5 Wednesday November 5 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and 3:30 - 5:30 PM, and Thursday November 6 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Parents will have the option of meeting with teachers and school counselors in person or remotely via Microsoft Teams. Signups for conferences will be required regardless of the type of conference chosen. Conference slots will be 10 minutes in length and will be filled through a first-come-first-serve process. Information regarding conference signups will be e-mailed to parents on Friday 10/31.
- For serious reasons a student may be dismissed early from school by bringing an explanatory note requesting permission from his parent to the Dean of Students by 8:10 am. Failure to do so will result in a detention. Medical appointments should not be scheduled during school time if possible. Any student dismissed before the end of period 5/5a will be ineligible to participate in or attend any athletic or extracurricular activity on that school day. Exceptions to this policy may be granted by the Dean of Students.
- Important notice for all parents! Parents are reminded that their son's grades are always visible via OnCampus. As the year continues, parents are encouraged to periodically check their son's progress. If questions or concerns arise from these check-ins, parents are encouraged to reach out to their son's teacher(s).
- Parents of fall athletes: This is a reminder to parents that Student-Athletes must be in school for the day in order to participate in their practices or contests. If your son is absent from school, they are not allowed to attend practice or games unless they receive permission from Ms. Drewry. Any athlete who is found in violation of this policy will be immediately sent home from their event and face additional school consequences. Additionally, athletes who arrive late or leave early, must be present for 5 full class periods in order to be eligible for athletics.
- Parents of Fall Athletes: Reminder that parent pick up after practices/games should be in the back of the school and not along the side of the building. Parents must stay out of the bus pick up/drop off lane. It has been clearly painted and marked on the side of the building.
- Winter Sports Registration opened on Tuesday, October 14th. Please see the email from Mr. DeConti with the link to register.
- A reminder that all student athletes are required to have a physical on file in the nurse's office. Physicals are valid for 13 months from the date of the exam.
- Reminder to all Parents: On the first Friday of each month, the Ryken Society holds a canned food drive for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. Please remind your sons to Be a Man and Bring a Can!
- Senior and Junior Parents Note! In the coming weeks, Xavier will host admission representatives from colleges across the United States. Please encourage your son to check Naviance to sign up for these visits.
- Here is the list of schools that will be attending the week of November 3rd: Benedictine College and UMass Dartmouth.
