A MESSAGE FROM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, BRIAN FARRELL '86

The beginning of the school year is always exciting for students and the entire Xavier Community.  This year the class of 2026 begins their journey.  The class begins with 155 students and $400,000 in tuition assistance.  It is because of your generosity that the tuition assistance is possible to elevate the lives of our future alumni as they learn how to dedicate their talents to the world as the big picture expands around them.

We are all part of a bigger picture.  Our own Xavier High School is part of a larger Xaverian brotherhood with 13 schools and 12,000 students with more than 1,000 faculty and staff to support them.

Expand your own picture and become an active member of our Alumni Association.  We will keep you informed so you may participate in social events and philanthropic activity.  Should you need anything, contact us. You are already invited to participate.

Congratulations to the Golf Committee for their excellent work in creating a very successful Alumni Golf event.

AROUND & ABOUT

Record Results at the 2022 Xavier Alumni Golf Classic

The 40th Annual XAGC was another huge success. One hundred-forty alumni and friends of Xavier teed off on a beautiful September morning at Portland Golf Course and enjoyed a wonderful day of reminiscing with old and new friends both on the course and at dinner that evening.

It was also a day of record results! The event raised a net total of $145,000, surpassing last year’s record total by more than $20,000. All of those funds will be used to provide tuition assistance to students with need and merit. Special thanks to all of our sponsors for their support of this event. Their contributions alone totaled more than $135,000!

The other record set was by the foursome of Geoff DeVille ’80, John Mooz ’81, Geoffrey DeVille ’12, and Ryan DeVille ‘14 who finished the day at 17 under par in the scramble format. Congratulations to them for their outstanding performance. Other winners that day included Nate Gonzalez ‘14 and Ryan Fitzgerald ‘05 who won the longest drive contests and Dan Cizauskas and Tom Coughlin ‘09 who won the closest-to-pin contests. Gerry Malloy won the sudden death putting contest.

Congratulations also to the XAGC Committee of Dave Archer ’71, Will Biestek ’09, Dan DeConti ’01, Geoff DeVille ‘80, Chris Dibble ’12, Bryan Feitel ’86, Rich Feitel, Greg Jaskot ’00, CJ Kowaleski ’10, Sandy Larson ’75, Bob Lawson ’78, Alan Schumann ’78, Gary Szewczyk ’77, Mike Tommasi ’67 and Liz Whitty for their efforts to make the event such a successful one.

The Committee is pleased to announce that through designated memorial sponsorships from friends and family totaling more than $25,000, Xavier High School has established the Ronald Raffele Endowed Scholarship Fund. Thank you to the Gilbert and Lynch Families for securing the Memorial Sponsorship for Ron and to everyone who made a contribution in memory of Ron that has enabled the school to establish this fund. A member of the Class of 1970, Ron was a special friend to Xavier High School and a beloved member of the Committee for many years.

THE XAVIER HIGH SCHOOL PRAYER

- read at the close of school each day

Loving Father,

We ask you to protect the students, faculty and staff at Xavier High School.

Guide us to salvation by following the example of Jesus Christ, your Son.

Inspire us with your grace, to seek both academic success and spiritual wisdom as we use your gifts and talents in service to others.

Help us to find the strength and passion to be leaders and pioneers like Theodore James Ryken, the Xaverian Brothers and those who founded our school.

May we, in turn, accept the challenge to spread the Word of God and make the world a better place for all people.

We ask this, through Christ, our Lord. Amen

Saint Francis Xavier pray for us.

- Chris Danko ’11 and Francis Rowland ‘11
