Xavier Cross Country Wins 10th Consecutive SCC Championship

The Xavier High School cross country team continued its record-setting streak on Wednesday morning, as the Falcons captured their 10th consecutive Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Championship. Xavier delivered a strong performance with a team total of 32 points, thanks to all five scoring runners finishing in the top 10. 

The Falcons edged second-place Amity by 12 points. 

Leading the charge for Xavier was sophomore Nolan O’Connor, who finished fourth overall with a time of 16:17.21 in the 5000m race. Senior Landon Rubano followed closely, placing fifth with a time of 16:25.43, while junior Peter Torello posted a personal best of 16:266.40 to finish sixth. Sophomores Jackson Gould (16:41.89) and Holden Hines (16:43.47) rounded out the top-five scorers for the Falcons, placing eighth and ninth, respectively. Senior Xavier Laudati (16:50.30) finished in 10th-place. 

As a result of their outstanding individual performances, O’Connor, Rubano, Torello, Gould, Hines, and Laudati all earned First Team All-SCC Honors. Sophomore James Perrault received Second Team All-SCC accolades thanks to finished in 23rd.
