Xavier Cross Country Wins Seventh Consecutive State Championship

The Xavier High School cross country continued its dominant 2025 season by winning their seventh consecutive CIAC Class MM State Championship on Saturday afternoon at Wickham Park. The Falcons had a strong finish to earn 57 points and edge second-place East Lyme by two points.

Xavier had three runners finish in the top-10 led by sophomore Holden Hines in fifth with a time of 16:28.80. Sophomore Nolan O’Connor finished eighth overall thanks to crossing the finish line at 16:31.07, while junior Peter Torello came in 10th with a time of 16:39.52.  

Senior Xavier Laudati and classmate Landon Rubano were the next two Falcons to cross the finish line coming in 17th and 19th, respectively. Laudati posted a time of 17:01.99 and Rubano had a mark of 17:10.11.

Senior Andrew Hawk finished 20th overall with a time of 17:12.36 and sophomore Jackson Gould came in 42nd thanks to a time of 17:57.12.

Thanks to their strong finishes, Holden Hines, Nolan O’Connor, and Peter Torello all earned All-State honors.

The victory marked the 25th CIAC State Championship for the cross country program.
