đââď¸ Andrew Hawk (Cross Country) & Peter Torello (Cross Country)
The Xavier High School Cross Country team captured its seventh straight State Championship on Saturday. This one came right down to the wire, with the Falcons pulling out the win by just two points.
After the first two miles, things werenât looking great, we were trailing and needed a huge push in the final stretch. Thatâs when Peter Torello and Andrew Hawk stepped up big. Peter finished 10th overall with a time of 16:39, earning All-State honors, and Andrew finished 20th overall in 17:12. It was Andrewâs late surge past an East Lyme runner that sealed the two-point victory and the state title.
