The Xavier High School wrestling captured its ninth consecutive Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Championship on Saturday at Foran High School. The Falcons delivered a dominant performance with 226 total points to top second-place Shelton by 74.5 points.
Xavier won individual titles in eight of the 14 weight classes.
Senior Braylon Gonzalez tied a SCC wrestling championship record by winning his fourth league title by technical fall.
Xavier won the first five finals thanks to strong efforts from junior Zack Dixon (120), junior Zaphyr Musshorn (132), freshman Josh Perez (106), freshman Treydan Beam (112), and freshman Alexander Depratti (126).
The other two individual champions for Xavier were junior Victor Rivera (175) and junior Chase Catalano (190).
It marked the 14 SCC championship for the wrestling team and it was the 71st total SCC title for Xavier athletics.
