Matrullo & Dubay Named Athletes of the Week!

Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week!

For the 11th consecutive year, the Falcons captured the SCC Championship! But what makes this year's accomplishment even more impressive is that Xavier didn't just win the varsity race. The Falcons completed a clean sweep, taking first place in all three races: Varsity, JV, and Freshman!

And it was the freshman race that got things started.

Andrew Matrullo (Cross Country)

Our Cross Country program is built around three core values: Community, Tradition, and Ambition. Matrullo exemplifies all three. He understands the importance of being part of something bigger than himself, takes pride in contributing to the championship tradition of Xavier Cross Country, and demonstrates the ambition to continue working hard and improving every day. For his performance at the SCC championship, winning the freshman race, and, more importantly, or representing the values that make our Cross Country program so successful Andrew Matrullo is one of our Athletes of the Week!

Dylan Dubay (Soccer)

The soccer team finished the regular season undefeated. This recognition is about more than just statistics. Sometimes it's about perseverance, patience, and making the most of an opportunity when it finally comes. Dylan Dubay has spent much of this season on the sidelines recovering from an injury. While his teammates have been putting together an outstanding season, he has been working toward getting himself back onto the field. On Tuesday, in front of the home crowd against Daniel Hand, that patience and hard work paid off. He found the back of the net for his first goal of the season, putting the game out of reach and helping the Falcons secure another victory to keep their undefeated season alive. For his perseverance, determination, and making an impact when his opportunity came, our second Athlete of the Week is Dylan Dubay!
