On Leaving as Your Alumni & Development Director for the Second Time
Hard to believe that it has been 2½ years since I returned to Xavier High School to serve as Alumni & Development Director at this amazing high school. Never thought I would enjoy it as much as I have. It’s been great reconnecting with so many of you that I taught or coached years ago, and meeting so many younger alumni who have the same love and passion for Xavier as the older generation of graduates.
My sincere thanks to all of you who have responded to my many appeals and have committed your time, talent, and treasure to Xavier. Together, over the last 30 months, we have significantly increased annual financial support, established many new endowed funds, enhanced programs and facilities, and increased alumni participation from 4% to 15%. It’s been a great run!
As I step down from this position, I have total confidence that TJ Kronenberger '04 will continue to move the program forward as your new Alumni & Development Director. It has been a pleasure to work with him during the last year and witness first-hand the energy, talent, passion, and commitment he brings to this office every day. Please support TJ and Xavier High School going forward and help your alma mater to continue to provide academic, athletic, and campus ministry programs of excellence and help so many young men who would not have the opportunity to attend Xavier without financial aid contributed from our proud and generous alumni base.
Have you been meaning to renew your 2024-2025 gift or make a new one? The fiscal year doesn’t end until June 30 so there are still three weeks left to make the Honor Roll of Donors for 2025-2026. Just click on the link below or go to the Xavier High School website to contribute. I will be forever grateful for any donation you can make between now and June 30 to push our totals even higher.
Hope to see many of you at future alumni events and reunions!
With sincere gratitude to all of you who have made my many years of service to Xavier such a pleasurable and personally rewarding experience.
Farewell,
Rich Feitel

Golf Classic to Honor Linda Charpentier, Memorialize Tom & Terry Pierce
Every year the Xavier Alumni Golf Classic committee selects one past faculty member to honor and at least one deceased faculty member or alumnus to be remembered at the event.
This year’s honoree is Linda Charpentier. She began her teaching career in the fall of 1974 and dedicated 44 years of her life to teaching science at Xavier High School, retiring in 2018. She also founded the Environmental Club and was moderator of that organization during her many years at Xavier.
The Pierce’s were also science teachers. Tom taught from 1968 to 2007 and served as Department Chair for 20 of those years. Terry joined the faculty in 1982 and retired in 2006. Both were also vital members of the Campus Ministry Team and are fondly remembered by students for preparing the sauce and pasta for Sophomore Weekends.
The 44th Annual Alumni Golf Classic will be conducted at Portland Golf Course on Friday, September 11. If you would like to secure a sponsorship to honor Linda or memorialize Tom and Terry, please click on the link below.

Baseball: The team finished the regular season with a 14-6 record. They were the #6 seed in the SCC tournament, upsetting #3 Notre Dame in the first round and losing to #2 seed Fairfield Prep in the semifinals. They entered the CIAC Class L State Tournament as the #7 seed, winning their first and second round games but lost to Bethel in the Quarterfinals.
Golf: They won the SCC Championship at The Farms Country Club. As a team they shot 288, which is the lowest team score in the history of the SCC Championship. They are competing today (Monday, June 8) in the CIAC Division I State Championship.
Lacrosse: The team finished the regular season with three straight wins to qualify for the CIAC Class L State Tournament and lost to St Joseph, Trumbull in the second round.
Sailing: The Sailing Team had a small but dedicated group of sailors for the spring season. They competed in several meets against Guilford, Sound School, and Salisbury. They also competed in some larger races like the O’Day Qualifier at UConn.
Tennis: They finished the regular season with a record of 10-4. They entered the SCC Tournament as the #5 seed. They defeated Guilford in the first round then lost to #1 ranked Fairfield Prep in the semifinals. Thet were the #3 seed in the CIAC Class L Tournament where they won their first two matches before losing to Fairfield Ludlowe in the semifinals. This is the first time the Falcons reached the semifinals of the state tournament since the CIAC adopted the new team format for tennis.
Track & Field: Our Track & Field Team finished as runner-up to Hand in the CIAC Class L State Championship Meet. They went on to set school records in the State Open by winning the 4x800m relay in 7:46.63 and finished third in the 4x400m in 3:18.77.
Ultimate: The team was coming off a large graduating class from last year and took some time to develop this year. By the end of the season the team was playing at a high level and had some close losses at both the State Tournament and the NEPSUL Tournament.
Volleyball: The team was very young and very inexperienced this season and went through some growing pains. They did see some success towards the end of the season but fell short of qualifying for the State Tournament. The team is eager to work hard in the off-season and come back stronger next year.

Help Secure Xavier’s Future by Creating an Endowed Scholarship Fund
There are several ways to help secure the future of Xavier High School, but building the endowment will be key going forward. The school currently has over $14 million in approximately 90 funds that have been created over the years. Most help to provide financial aid to qualified and needy families who would not be able to afford a Xavier education for their son(s) without this assistance. Many have been created by the school or by alums to honor a former faculty member or a deceased family member.
A minimum donation of $25,000 is needed to establish an endowed fund. If you are interested in creating one to honor or memorialize a mentor, loved one, or special person in your life, or just have questions pertaining to endowments, please contact T.J. Kronenberger at the Alumni & Development Office (860-346-7735).

From football and baseball to performance training and specialty camps, every session is built around one goal: helping campers develop both on and off the field.
