General Science Teacher
General Science Teacher – Xavier High School
Location: Middletown, Connecticut
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: Starting between $45,000–$75,000 (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview
Xavier High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our faculty. While we welcome applicants from all scientific disciplines, preference will be given to candidates with experience or credentials in Biology, Physical Science, or Physics.
The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who thrives in a collaborative environment, values strong relationships with students and colleagues, and is eager to contribute to a mission-driven school community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (Master’s preferred)
- Certification in secondary education (preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school science effectively
- A commitment to supporting the Catholic mission of the school
- A desire to be part of a close-knit, values-driven community of excellence
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 5 sections of science courses, depending on department needs
- Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous, and college-oriented science instruction
- Facilitate a student-centered and project-oriented learning experience
- Foster a classroom environment that supports academic excellence
- Facilitate student growth socially and emotionally as part of Xavier's ongoing SEL initiative
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives
- Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and community life
- Serve as a mentor and role model aligned with Xavier’s Catholic values
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents, counselors, coaches, and school leadership
- Report to the Science Department Chair and carry out all assigned department responsibilities

School Counselor
School Counselor – Xavier High School

Position Overview
Xavier High School is seeking a compassionate, organized, and student-centered School Counselor to join our Counseling Department. The successful candidate will support the academic, emotional, and social development of their assigned students and work collaboratively with their department, faculty, families, and administrators to foster a safe and supportive school environment. This position reports to the Director of Counseling and the Associate Presidents.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide academic, social-emotional, and college/career counseling to students in grades 9–12.
- Support students in setting academic goals, selecting courses, and planning for post-secondary success.
- Offer individual and group counseling to address personal, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with their department, teachers, administrators, and families to support student development and well-being.
- Assist with standardized testing coordination (PSAT, SAT, AP) and facilitate college planning events.
- Contribute to school-wide programs that promote mental health, SEL, and a positive school climate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and legal standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Connecticut School Counselor Certification (066), (067), or (068), or eligibility (not required but preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, computer, and communication skills
- Knowledge of counseling theories, child development, and educational systems
- A commitment to supporting the Catholic mission of the school
- Experience with NCAA eligibility and UCONN ECE coordination is desired
- Familiarity with SEL programming and education is a plus
