At Xavier, we ask our students to take the next step and prepare themselves for what comes after high school.
Whatever that may be.
So what does that mean when it comes to technology and its many facets?
Let us introduce you to our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) plan.
Every school day, Xavier students are required to have a computer available to help them as they take on the challenges ahead.
So what do we recommend? The options are varied, but we do have a couple suggestions!
In general, MacBooks are discouraged due to limited support in the building and the possibility of a different experience with software being used. However, they are not restricted. Devices that are not permitted are iPads, Android tablets and Chromebooks. Student computers must run either Mac OSX or windows.
Here are the required technology options:
- Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5
- Hard Drive
- 128GB of storage space minimum, 256GB preferred
- 8GB minimum, 16GB preferred
- Antivirus enabled (Windows Defender is allowed)
- Microsoft Office (provided by Xavier)
- No active VPN
- Windows cannot be in S mode
