From Your Alumni & Development Team - Rich Feitel, Greg Jaskot '00 & Suzanne Berry
2024-2025 Annual Fund Drive - Why We Need Your Financial Support.
Are you old enough to remember when tuition was $150, $850, or $2,500? Even $8,000 or $12,000?
Today, tuition is nearly $18,000, and many families would love to send their son(s) to this outstanding high school but simply can't afford it. The Alumni & Development Office works to secure funds that provide financial aid to qualifying families. Approximately 60% of our students receive some form of tuition assistance, with an average award of $5,200. This year alone, the school has provided over $1.7 million in financial aid, yet this still doesn't fully meet the needs of all families requesting support.
Our office is also responsible for raising unrestricted funds to sustain and enhance Xavier's academic, athletic, and campus ministry programs, as well as for maintaining the school building and grounds. Unrestricted donations to Xavier fund the school's most pressing needs, as determined by the Board of Directors and administration.
If you value your Xavier education and want to ensure we continue offering the very best Catholic education to every qualified young man who wishes to attend, please support your alma mater to the best of your ability. Every donation, regardless of the amount, helps secure the financial future of Xavier High School.
Please click HERE or visit the school website to support Xavier High School this fiscal year. Alumni from the classes of 1967 to 1990 may also return the gift envelope included with the Annual Appeal letter.

Fall Sports Update
The Falcon football team lost its first three games by a total of 10 points to Bunnell, Sheehan, and Manchester. After a tough loss to Fairfield Prep, they rebounded with two consecutive lopsided wins over Wilbur Cross and Foran, then added a third straight win by celebrating senior night with a victory over Hillhouse. Three games remain on the schedule: North Haven, Hand, and Wilton.
The soccer team completed their regular with 15 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. Both losses and the tie have come at the feet of Notre Dame-West Haven High School, the top ranked team in CT and 6th ranked team in the country. Xavier Coach Brian Fitzgerald hopes to take his team deep into the Class LL Tournament this year and recorded a first-round victory over Harding by a score of 9-1.
The Xavier cross country team had another very successful season. They won their 9th consecutive SCC Championship, their 6th straight Class L Championship, and finished 5th in the State Open. Only the New England Meet remains on their schedule.

Good Time Had by All at the Grand Reunion
Members of the Class of 1974 celebrated their 50th at the Grand Reunion
The Alumni & Development Office hosted the first Grand Reunion for classes ending in 4 and 9 at Xavier High School on Friday, October 4. Over one hundred alumni attended this special event. The Class of 1973 also celebrated their 50th reunion a year late, as they were unable to hold their event in 2023.
Sincere thanks to Rev. Dr. Barry McCarthy '69 for helping to plan the prayer service for deceased alumni, and to Jim Powers '69 and Greg Schmidt '69 for providing the special music - it was beautiful! Thanks also to Jack Gastler '74, Fr. Frank Gilbert '74, Sebby Fazzino '19, and Patrick Kennedy '19 for participating in the service.

Students, Faculty, Parents, and Alumni Volunteer Their Services on "Houli Day!"

Approximately 75 members of the Xavier community attended "Houli Day" on Saturday, October 12, to help beautify the campus. This special event was reinstituted in 2023 in honor of Br. Robert Houlihan, C.F.X., who not only taught science at Xavier for more than 40 years but also nearly single-handedly maintained the grounds during that time. Brother Houlihan passed away on July 19, 2021, just shy of his 90th birthday.
Weeds were pulled, flowers and trees were planted, and yards of mulch were spread from 8 a.m. to noon. The sound of leaf blowers could be heard across the campus all morning as leaves were cleared from grassy areas and moved into the woods.
Special thanks to faculty member Jeremy Fowler '94, Associate Alumni & Development Director Greg Jaskot '00, and Marketing Director Steve Cunha for all their efforts in organizing the event. Thanks also to the Xavier Home & School Association for providing beverages and snacks for all the volunteers.
